Discover Creative Ways to Organise Your Home

Getting organised in your home can be a daunting task, but with a bit of creativity, it can also be a fun and rewarding experience. Here are some innovative ideas and approaches we have used to help our clients in Bristol get organised. Making these tips and actions as part of your daily an weekly habits you will see you move from organised chaos to a more organised uncluttered home.

Bring out your creativity and start to design

1. Use Vertical Space

Maximise your storage by using vertical space. Install shelves, hooks, and pegboards to keep items off the floor and within easy reach. This is especially useful in small spaces where floor space is limited. Aim to leave no dead space or areas and ensure you establish a clear way of storing items in boxes and storage containers.

2. Repurpose Everyday Items

Get creative by repurposing everyday items. Use mason jars for storing small items like screws and nails, or turn an old ladder into a stylish bookshelf. The possibilities are endless and will ensure that you stamp your own unique mark on your project.

3. Label Everything

Labelling is key to staying organised. Use labels to identify the contents of boxes, bins, and drawers. This will save you time and frustration when you're looking for something specific. It also makes you really think about what you need, what you keep and the items which you will need to let go of and recycle.

4. Create a Command Centre

Set up a command centre in a central location in your home. This can include a calendar, to-do list, and a place to store mail and keys. Having everything in one place will help you stay on top of your daily tasks. Around this area of the house you should create baskets and storage for the items that you use every day, keeping them close to where you plan and get ready for the day ahead.

5. Declutter Regularly

Make decluttering a regular habit. Set aside time each week and month to go through your belongings and get rid of anything you no longer need or use. This will help prevent clutter from building up over time. You will need to build a ruthless streak of ‘one out one in’ to keep your area and space free and flowing. Really take time before you purchase, do you need the new item of the kitchen, will that new jumper really get worn this year? if you are unsure pause and make the purchase decision in seven days time.

6. Use Clear Containers

Clear containers are great for organising because you can see what's inside without having to open them. Use them to store everything from pantry items to craft supplies. We use a large variety of glass jars and bottles to store large and small items. This again is great way of cutting down on what you are buying and ensuring that you do not over purchase or buy.

7. Invest in Multi-Functional Furniture

Multi-functional furniture can help you save space and stay organised. Look for pieces that serve multiple purposes, such as a bed with built-in storage or a coffee table that doubles as a desk. At Sorted By Virgo we are big fans of Ottomans which are designed and have a storage area on the inside.

8. Create Zones

Divide your home into zones based on function. For example, create a reading nook in the living room or a craft area in the basement. Around the TV or music system create storage for any gaming consoles, head phones or controllers. This will help you keep similar items together and make it easier to find what you need, which are located in the area where the activity is going on.

9. Use Baskets and Bins

Baskets and bins are perfect for keeping items organised and out of sight. Use them to store everything from toys to blankets to office supplies, washing liquid, shampoos and cleaning products. Ensure each bedroom has a bin with a closed top for laundry to be collected in an stored before washing.

10. Keep It Simple

Finally, keep it simple. Don't overcomplicate your organising system. The simpler it is, the more likely you are to stick with it, regularly review and throw out, and turn this into a habit that is a foundation of keeping your home and house clean, flowing and a positive environment to live and have fun.

We offer the following services

1.    Sorting The starting point is a comprehensive and objective sorting service tailored to individual needs and the goal of restoring flow, balance in the places you spend most of your time.  We help you cut the emotional bond with the furniture and belongings which no longer fit and have utility and remain only for reasons of nostalgia.

2.     Styling This is when the magic begins and the big decisions need to be made to go with the old or the new, to reuse or to find the right sofa, wall hanging or mirror that will create the focus of the room. We spend hours trawling though antique fairs, researching the styles of today and fifty years ago, seeking the style blend and the shapes that transform your space that represent your own unique style.

3.     Design: Using colour palates, textures and fabrics our customised interior design approach allows you to create a space that reflects your unique style and needs. Our approach is to focus on the balance between functionality, design, light and colour to ensure each space is not only beautiful but also practical.  personalisation makes your home feel more like your own space which improves your overall sense of satisfaction, order and balance.

4.     Hand Made Headboards: At Sorted by Virgo, we believe your bedroom should be a haven of comfort and style. That's why we offer a bespoke headboard making service in Bristol, designed to bring your vision to life. A bespoke headboard from Sorted by Virgo is more than just a piece of furniture; it's a statement piece that elevates your bedroom and creates a truly restful environment.
